I make the traditional Japanese potteries from scratch, and hand paint shiba inu pictures.
Paint is called `Sometsuke.` I use two differemt shades from the traditional Japanese paint store in Kyoto,
and I have been searching for my own shade.
I make potteries. Compared to the ceramics, potteries are rather fragile.
So please use your at most care when handling them.
You need to dry the potteries completely after the use to prevent possible molds from forming.
I made the porcelain and the pottery.
Please click on the link for more information.
[About pottery and porcelain]
You will see some crack-like lines on my potteries.
This is called "Kannyu".
Kannyu is formed on the surface alone because of the difference in the shrinkage between
the surface glass matters and the clay.
This is the natural process and you do not need to worry.
As you use the potteries, things like tea stains go into kannyu and create its own pattern.
In the world of Japanese tea ceremony, this pattern is called "keshiki" (scenary) and is highly praised.
However, if you do not want these keshiki patterns, you can simply use a mild bleach.
As long as the time is short, you can use them in microwave. And they are dishwasher-safe.
Some say that you need to boil potteries before the first use,
but I use them without such handling.
And so far I have not seen any problems.
I do not use anything that contains lead and other poisonous chemicals.
So they are completely safe for food items. They are made to be used!!!
